JOB TITLE: Basecamp Support & Driver

AVAILABILITY: May 14 - September 10

FOOD & HOUSING: Free dry cabin styled Yukon tent w/ roomate and free food with Chef prepared dinners served daily

LOCATION: Based in Cooper Landing, AK, steps away from the Kenai River at Alaska Wildland Adventure's Kenai Riverside Lodge

JOB OBJECTIVE: To assist in driving shuttles on a daily basis from Cooper Landing to a variety of locations in Southcentral Alaska in support of Alaska Wildland Adventures operations. Destinations include but are not limited to: boat launch sites along the Kenai River and Skilak Lake; Seward; Soldotna; and Anchorage. Shuttle drivers also play a crucial role in helping to accomplish the day to day tasks and maintenance required at basecamp.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  1. High-quality guest service standards. 
  2. Safely operating commercial motor vehicles.
  3. Responsible for the care, maintenance, cleanliness and preparation of vehicles.
  4. Responsible for reporting to Basecamp Manager for groundskeeping tasks before, after, or between shuttles
  5. Guest service, including luggage handling, the general orientation of guests, airport pick-ups, shuttles, etc.
  6. Basecamp support. River (rafting or fishing) shuttles, hike shuttles, shopping and errands, landscaping, camp projects, garbage and recycling cleanup, and general labor.
  7. Participate in company practices and policies to conserve natural resources, reduce landfill-bound waste, reduce or eliminate the use of environmentally harmful substances and products and work to help improve AWA’s environmental impact.
  8. Flexibility and diversity. Employee’s duties and assignments may be modified and altered incidentally to Employees’ principal duties to allow for the smooth operation of the business and maximum employment opportunities for the Employee.
  9. Camp chores as assigned to allow for values of integration, coordination, cross-training, employee benefits of sharing drudgery tasks, synergy, and maximum employment opportunity. You will be expected to do "dirty work" and "manual labor" from time to time.
